Kanzaq is a historical village located three kilometers east of Sarein city in Ardabil province. An important feature of this village is the existence of underground troglodytic caves that have been inhabited for about two thousand years.

Analysis of the architectural patterns, indicates the existence of three models of a rectangular single room, single room with a circular plan, and combined areas with at least two rooms (elongated and circular in shape), which are often abandoned today due to terrible earthquake on March 1996, that leads to some caves have been turned into cages.

Proximity to the touristic city of Sarein on the one hand, and the unique feature of ancient troglodytic houses in the village, attracted the attention of the cultural heritage office to restore and revitalize the abandoned undergrouand caves as a five star hotel boutique.
